    Hi,

This is a DV in question.

I'm thinking of buying a camcorder (JVC DVL367 perhaps), but have unable to find out whether DV in is always via a firewire port on camcorders (which I don't have on my mac), or whether a USB input can be used if the camcorder has it (I notice the JVC has USB and firewire, but wonder whether USB is for output only)

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Many thanks

Unsure - but I did put a firewire card into my PC myself for £50.00 - found it easy to do too... (unsure of putting one into a MAC though....)

The port must be IEEE1394 OHCI compliant, ie "Firewire". USB 1 and 2 are different and will not work or fit.

USB 1 is too slow for video, only USB 2, but that is a very recently introduced standard, and is not yet widely used. The USB port is probalbly for still pictures.
