Newbie needs help, Which TV

Hello,

Been some time since i last visited this site and now need some advice as what tv to buy. I prefer Sony or Panasonic. I know very little about which models are best so would appreciate some feedback as which model to go for given the following info.

Have £500 to spend.
Would prefer Sony of Panasonic make as these are well known brands but if another make has good reliability, picture etc then would not rule out.
Looking for 28inch model to 32 inch. either 50 or 100hz refresh rate. Feel free to recommend the best given the info above.
