Our first baby is due in December and we are moving house in two weeks time both of which have prompted me to start researching camcorders. I think I have now done too much research and have got myself into a poisition where I am struggling to choose between two cams - the Sony HC42 (£388) and the Panasonic nvgs150 (£475).

The camcorder will be used mostly for family events & filming Jnr growing up. I will more than likely get into editing on the PC.

Does anyone have any firm opinions on the merits of each of these cams? In particular, does the fact that the Panasonic have 3CCD mean that the picture quality will be worth shelling out the extra cash for? To be honest, the Sony appeals to me more purely on aesthetic grounds but I don't want to make an expensive mistake.

    Any help much appreciated.

Kepp up the good work!
