I recently purchased an Ellion DVD recorder which is causing me problems so I am sending it back. Having looked at all the reviews and comments, I am thinking of purchasing the Panasonic DMRES10. Can anyone tell me if the quality of the recorded pictures are good in HQ, LP etc?

Are there any other machines that I should consider? After all its a minefield out there and it seems that in some cases you may get a good one if you are lucky.

    Regards

The Panasonic you mention is first rate as is the Toshiba RD-XS34.
You won't go far wrong with either of these. :smashin:

If you want a non HDD model, the DMRES10 is one of the best.

For HDD models, the Toshiba XS34, Panasonic EH50, and Sony 510 are ones to consider.

New models are coming, so that provides another source of confusion, do you buy now or wait, main new thing coming is DVD/HDD recorders with integrated Freeview.

thanks for the replies. I need something to replace the old VCR, which gave up the ghost. I was thinking to get something fairly simple for now and obtain a better one later. Is the recording good for the 4 hr mode on the Panasonic (comparing against VCR).

    Regards
