    Hi all!

I recently moved to NYC, and am currently going through the joys of buying a new home entertainment setup from scratch (now I know how my girlfriend feels when she buys shoes! ).

Basically, I decided to get a projector/home cinema sound system set up as I can make a good saving on the hardware buying over here, and easily take the projector back to the UK on my return.

I've done a fair bit of reading, and learned a lot, and plan on buying this weekend. So, before I do, I thought I'd issue a general plea for any advice - i.e. any pitfalls to avoid or ideas to bear in mind.

In particular, I've narrowed down my search to the following three models in my price range (of approx $2,500) - so if anyone has any experience with these, I'd be glad to hear it...

    NEC LT260 http://www.projectorcentral.com/projector_details.cfm?part_id=1842

    Panasonic PT-L720U

    Sanyo PLC-XU38

And yes, they're all 'bright' (i.e. 2000 lumens +) so I don't have to sit in a darkened room just to watch days of our lives etc - I reckon that's the minimum brightness I need.

Cheers in advance for any comments - the views of experts would be appreciated before I get myself into this!

Mike, this should really be posted in the LCD projector forum. But, for what its worth, here are c a couple of bits of advice...

If you plan to bring the projector back to the UK make sure the power supply with work with 240V as well as 110V. Most European machines can switch automatically between the two voltages, but its worth checking if machines designed for the US market do it also.

Also check that a US projector can handle PAL as well as NTSC. Again, most machines are world standards compatible but its a question worth asking.

    Regards
