    Hi Folks.

    Newbie here.

    I have a new Sony Digital8 TRV-285

I bought a battery from ebay that is a compatible not original sony.

It is rated 4300mah and 7.4V

The sony equivalent should be 4200mah and 7.2V

I think the increase in mah will mean the battery lasts longer but Im worried that the increase in voltage could cause harm to my new camcorder.

I wish now that Id spent more on the sony battery but as I havent, does anyone please have any advice as to if this battery would do any harm and what the increased voltage could mean to me.

Thank you for your time in reading this and any replies would be really welcome.

    Cheers

    Alex ( BobSpoons)

The regulator inside your camera will take care of that slight voltage difference - no need to worry.

If you have a mains adapter that can run your camera without the battery attached you may well find that that gives an even higher voltage.
