At the moment we have a aged sony 760 sky box.
looking to replace that with a sky + box and have the sony in the bedroom, on a second sub.
Which lnb would I need to be able to run the two digibox's off one dish. Am I correct in thinking that if I installed a quad output lnb, the sky + would use 2 of the outputs and the 3rd to the sony?

    Spot on.

The Quad supplied with SKY+ has (obviously) four independent outputs two of which are used for SKY+ and the other two for any STB you choose to hook up to the LNB.
