Hello All,
The Facts:
I'm a newbie and don't pretend to know much about the A/V world other than what I've learned over the last few months on the net and much of it contradicts. We are almost finished building our new home which I pre-wired for surround sound. I've always wanted a nice surround sound system and in our case it will be in our great room. Due to circumstances beyond my control (read: wife) our Samsung 8500 is above our fireplace. the room is approx 23' x 23'. The ceilings vault from the fireplace at 9' up to 15' on the opposite end of the room. It actuall flattens out about 4' from the rear of the room. My Couch will be approx. 12' from the TV centered in the room.
The questions:
Any recommendations on speaker placement? Currently I am considering Speakercraft in ceiling Aim7 threes for the front. The speakers would be mounted in ceiling about 3' out from the fireplace angled at seating area. The rear speakers (Speakercraft Wide One) would be on the back wall which about 10-11' high. this would put them about 10' away from the listening viewing area. Any probs with them being so far back?
Any better suggestions on speakers? I had a friend recommend Speakerfcraft so that's all that I really researched.
Also, I have a Onkyo 504(i think) and and SVS10 woofer that I bought from a guy I work with.
Thanks in advance for any help y'all could provide.
