I just had my HD box replaced by a brand new one. In theory I would expect a new product to come with a new 12 month warranty period. Before I phone Sky anyone had the same & what is Sky's position on this as I have a suspicion they'll try something else.

As far as I know the original box comes with a 1 year guarantee, If this develops a fault within this period it is replaced free of charge, the new or reconditioned box does not come with its own new guarantee.

Generally you get the remainder of the initial warranty period or 3 months from installation of the new box, whichever is actually longer.

That's correct - I had 3 Sky+ boxes replaced, all of the replacements came with 3 months warranty.

I have an engineer out on Tuesday and i'm convinced i'll be given a 'new' box.

Out of interest, what was up with your box? Did you get any compensation for losing your planner contents?

It was recording programmes but wouldn't play them back.

Compensation-Haven't asked, I archived to dvd what I hadn't had time to watch. I doubt very much Sky would give any out easily either.

If you do get a new box, ask for the warranty card, I wish I'd asked for mine, I am going to see if I can get a new 12 month warranty period from date new box installed.

I phoned Sky and asked the question when I had my faulty box replaced. The warranty runs from the date you take receipt of the original box :(

Interesting to hear if you are at the end of your warranty period, you get up to 3 months guarantee.

Good luck with trying to get a new warranty, let us know how you get on.....
