I've just bought a new Sony 28 inch WS TV and am having problems with both lack of auto-switching to an AV channel and lack of auto-switching between picture formats.

When I switch on the DVD player both work fine - the TV auto-switches to the relevant AV input and also auto-switches the picture format correctly.

When I switch on the Sky box the TV does neither of these things. I've tried swapping the cables round and it's still the same so it's not the cable or the AV input.

I've set the Sky box to 16:9, I've tried Scart control on and off and I've tried output as RGB and as PAL but still there's no auto-detect of either the AV feed or of the broadcast picture format.

    Any suggestions anyone please?

Or is this normal with Grundig (or other) Sky boxes?

All Sky Digiboxes are built to the same spec as laid down by Sky.

If you've swapped scart cables and AV inputs, it sounds as if you have a faulty digibox.

Is it possible to try it in another TV?

Not silly at all Skytel888 - the TV and Sky box are in my son's bedroom (I only have Freeview) so I wasn't aware that only one Scart out has auto-switching.

I'll swap them over and see what happens when he switches on later.

    Fingers crossed!

And thanks - hopefully that will be the answer!

    skytel888 - you are a hero.

I couldn't wait for my son to get home so I tried it just now and sure enough it works perfectly.

    Many many thanks!
