    Hi,

I have been been thinking of buying a new TV for ages and have a shortlist of Samsung UE40C6000, Panasonic TX-P42G20B, LG42D790, and maybe more, however, I only have standard SKY box in my lounge. So do I need to upgrade to SKY HD? and if so is it reasonable to buy the Tv and wait for engineer to install the new SKY box and get him to set up TV too?

The 40" Samsung C650 is better than the C6000 and it's cheaper. The G20 has problems displaying UK TV.

I am going to go ahead and buy a TV before buying SKY HD, and then see if I need HD box. I have a 32 inch Hitachi 'HD ready' in our bedroom and the picture is fine on a standard SKY + box.
Not decided what TV to buy yet.

Do you watch sport - if so you will definitely see the difference between Sky SD and HD, also movies, but maybe less so, although the sound is better on HD

I phoned Sky re HD and they gave me HD, any package I want, free installation and 1/2 price for 6 months, more than offsetting the HD £10 upgrade fee. Go for it !

HD is def worth it for sport - shows that how the input could sometimes be more important than the actually telly!

I'm thinking of getting the G20 - interested to know about these "UK prog" probs - no one else has mentioned it!

I recommend you view the G20 thread in the plasma forum. There is an extensive number of posts from members with G20s relating to the 50hz 'problem' (I think that's what TommyZ is referring to). The threads also highlight a couple of other issues people are having with their G20s.

To be fair though, there are also a fair few members who have reported no problems with their G20s.
