    Hi

I have £999 eVoucher from Argos (UK) due to a 3rd fault within 6 months on a Samsung 55NU8000. So Im after a replacement TV.

I would like to have the following:
    • 120Hz+ Interpolation (I hate judder)
    • 4K, HDR10+. Hlog and Dolby Vision support
    • true 10-bit Panel (pref certified but not necessary) not 8-Bit with dithering
    • "Grid Array" Local Dimming (not edge lit local dimming)
these are the most important points for me, open to suggestions

    thanks

There’s no tv available at your budget that meets all your requirements.

If you can add to the budget you could get the LG B8 for £1199.

This is not important at all.

It sounds like you are looking for a TV that is more capable with HDR. The LG B8 mentioned by zep is the cheapest you'll find that right now.

Previously the Samsung Q8DN or Sony XF9005 may also have been options but they are pretty much sold out now. I checked argos and they don't carry those any-more.

Its that time of year where if you are left with only buying a 2019 model, you can expect to pay release pricing for it. Sometimes this can be as much as 50% more than the TV is worth a year later.

If you got a £1000 from a NU8000 voucher though, you also paid a lot for that model which should put you in greater stead buying a replacement.

@ Dodgexander thanks for your reply...

i got the TV for £850 off them, i coulda got it for £700 with 5 yr GT on Richer Sounds but i didnt have the cash, just an Argos store card, so had to pay them extra to get it..on credit

I'm lost on this bit you mention "Its that time of year where if you are left with only buying a 2019 model, you can expect to pay release pricing for it. Sometimes this can be as much as 50% more than the TV is worth a year later."

    what does that mean exactly?

    thanks

Every year TV manufacturers release new models and each year they follow similar price trends.

Right now is the time of year the new models enter the shops. It means if there are no 2018 models left you can expect to pay more, for less right now.

The LG B8 suggested above is a 2018 model, so its priced at Argos the same as much worse TVs from the 2019 ranges that have just been released. I'd certainly pay the extra to get that TV if you can.

Very slim pickings at Argos because they have so little of the well-priced 2018 models left. That Toshiba OLED is probably the best option but its picture processing, smart TV and build quality is unknown.

If you cannot get an OLED, I'd be tempted to buy cheaper and go for the Hisense U7A instead, maybe you can fit the 65" version. Its not a good HDR TV, worse with HDR than your previous TV even, but its at least good value for money compared to the other options.

someone mentioned Vizio P but Argos dont sell them , they have some good models with varying FALD types

hmm well guess i;ll have to leave out full grid array then...as i cant go over 999 - the old one has just been collected and going back to 32" is awful lol..portable TV experience lol..

I really appreciate all the help guys

It’s not full array and possibly only 50hz so motion interpolation will be limited.

so this would be basically LG's version of my last Samsung one NU8000..?

how do they claim interpolation with a 50Hz panel? is its 24/25/30 fps movies upconverted to 50fps (hence limited interpolation) - my NU8000 was 100Hz and was ultra smooth, but i used to use a program on my PC that converted the movie file to the TV refresh rate and interpolated it and it was the same effect on my now current 50Hz LG 32" - DmitriRender its called

If you have a program then the refresh rate may not be an issue.

But at Argos the best bet is probably either oled or trying a brand new NU8000. There’s very little choice.

If hdr isn’t important then you could go for a Hisense model.

They are sold in North America only.
No, its a much lower end TV. More akin to Samsungs NU70 range.

As I mentioned already your best option is to go for the Toshiba OLED or Hisense U7A on current pricing and availability.

Unless you can somehow get a refund from them and spend the money elsewhere to grab the LG B8 at around £1000 or Sony XF9005/Q8DN. Oddly the B8 at argos is priced very high.

You'd expect the B8 price to come down, but I don't think Argos price match others?

You don't want to use a TV with only a 50/60hz panel for sure if you want to use interpolation. It means you'll be limited to only using that interpolation if the frame rate is less than 50fps.

If argos still had stock of more 2018 models this wouldn't be a problem, but since they only have new 2019 models which are overpriced there isn't a comparable option really. The B8 is oddly priced around 100-200 more than it is elsewhere too.

Yeah honestly, save the little extra for the B8. If your after a FALD LCD, then you aint going to get one.

So get something with millions of zones instead of 40.

the program was only used on my 60Hz LG before I bought the NU8000 - so i could have interpolation - it was good for £8..some artifacts around edges of objects but less than 0.01% of the entire movie, only issue was poor licensing on it, after every windows update the license expired due to the programmers crappy licensing system - ive not used it this year even as I had the NU8000 - also its GPU heavy..with high end cards - its struggled on my GTX 650 and had to drop to 50Hz to get it to work ..anyway im chaging subject... TV's.... see my previous post

ive just found out trhough this video it has BFI and looks bad i hated it on my NU8000 and could turn it off..now he says its built into the interpolation so to get rid you have to compltely disable interpolation...i need aT V with interpolation without BFI - should I cancel the order?

There are myriad settings so just go with what you like best once the tv is in situ. The BFI will have different levels too.

I believe the B7 had them grouped, but the B8 has them separate.
