New Toshiba 35" plasma

Maybe I've missed it, but I haven't seen any comments here yet about the new Toshiba plasma - looks very tempting:

Anyone got any advanced info? (price, full connection options?) Can't find anything on Tosh web sites yet. But to me, 35" sounds about the ideal size - 42" is just too big for my living room (and, I suspect, most people's). So far the only plasma I've considered is the Panny 37". Let's hope the price of the Tosh is within dreaming range....

JohnK,

Interesting news. I've never heard of 35" plasma glass before - sounds like brand new glass so I wonder who Toshiba's supplier is. Previously they've used Panasonic (on the 42WP16 and 50WP16 screens) but these have been monitors only, not integrated TVs. Do a search on 35P2700 and pass any interesting sites thru Altavista translation (this is the Japanese model number).

Toshiba are going with NEC on their next generation of 42/50" Plasma monitors (42/50WP27/8? - see www.toshiba.com for the US versions just announced (US models are xxHP82 - e.g. http://www.toshiba.com/tacp/tv/current/42HP82_detail.html)). I've no idea when these might arrive in the UK but it would be great if they came in about the same time as the 35".

Thanks for the Japanese model number - the Altavista translation of the Japanese Toshiba pages was hilarious and bewildering. I think this web translation thing has a bit of a way to go before it's perfected.

One thing I did pick up was that they seem particularly proud of the audio system built in to it. I did find this press release from the audio company providing the technology:Tripath powers new plasma TV

FYI You wont find this nfo on their websites.

The 35" plasma is an in house job by Toshiba. It's still in development. The specs and info. on the unit are being kept very hush hush. They reckon that they can have it complete and ready for release some time in 2003. Pricing aint been fixed coz by that time who know where the price point is going to be:D
