Just looked at Unbeatable.co.uk site and noticed the Toshiba 32WL56 is listed @ 975 GBP & the 32WLT58 @ 1199 GBP, of course they are listed as awaiting stock, but the prices certainly seem competetive, not sure how these models differ from the 32WL48 though, no info on the Tosh Web site.

According to the german brochure the 32wl56 is lower spec than the 32wl48. No component input, only 2 scarts(1 RGB). Everything else looks the same. The LT58 includes Freeview I think.

Should of pre-ordered the 32WL56 is now @ £1099, abd can confirm the 32WLT58 is indeed has IDTV, both have HDMI, not sure of DVI, probably not.

    Xelon,

Could you let me know where you got your information from? I'm tempted to take a chance and order one on spec (using the undoubtably naive assumption that the new model should be even better than the outgoing model).

    Cheers

The 32wl56 is slightly lower spec than the 32wl48. Only 2 scarts (1RGB) and no component inputs.

Finally, the 32WL56 is up on the Tosh site:

    http://www.home-entertainment.toshi...cs/homecinematv-plasmalcd-32wl56?opendocument

The surprises (for me at least) are that contrary to what has been listed on other sites, the resolution is 1280x720, not 1366x768

Perhaps even more worrying is that it is missing
    Colour digital enhancer
    Comb filter
    Crystalline

However, it seems to have gained "Real didgital picture processing".

Has anybody managed to see this side by side with a 46 or 48?
And if so what do you reckon to the PQ?

I've got an order in for one of these but I'm seriously considering cancelling it :(

I have just looked over the spec of the new machine..........i researched the 32wl48 for a month......we were led to believe that the 32wl56, would be the same thing without component...........

However....if the spec on the website is correct......IT'S A RIP OFF!!!

It is an inferior screen, with inferior features......I AM WELL PIS@£D OFF...

I was just about to order one, but i am ringing some guy i have spoken to at tosh before..........

He shall be getting an ear bashing tom morning.....

    What a jip.......

If all is true.....buy the hitach 32ld7200!!!

No, 1280x720 is a native 16:9 aspect just as 1366x768 is also 16:9. Also bear in mind that the expected HD resolution, as defined by EICTA will be 1280x720, the native resolution of the 56 therefore is a good thing as there wll be no scaling involved.

    What are the disadvantages of 1280 x 720 over 1366 x 768??

To be honest scrapbook, I'd be surprised if there was much of a disadvantage, at least for the time being. What does concern me is those other things which are missing which supported the 32WL48s good picture quality.

tosh hunter - you're not the only one p****d off - I've waisted about 6 weeks on all this!

I would have gone for the Hitachi - but because its got the speakers on the side it doesn't fit my alcove!

Might have to go for a very pricy Loewe now :(

I'm told my 48's finally in the country and should be delivered this week. 6 weeks is nothing. I ordered in February!
A nice man at Digitaldirect told me the truck containing their new delivery of 48s was sat in the yard on Friday last. I believe they have 50 units for distribution, but don't know if these are all spoken for.

    Maybe worth a call.

Thanks for the tip HD Ed.

But I called them this morning and they said they were all spoken for and said that I should forget it if I wasn't on the order list already. :(

So I've ordered a Loewe Xelos instead - quite a bit more pricey but its getting very good revirews. :)
