Thinking of picking up a Vita so I thought I'd ask you knowledgeable folks some questions:

    1) Any issues with getting a USA version for the UK?
    2) Have they been CFW'd yet?
    3) How's the homebrew scene? Developments in the Amiga/MAME emulators would be nice.
    4) Any recommended titles?

    Cheers

    1) i have a Japanese Vita 2000/slim - no problems so far.
Playing a UK Soul Sacrifice game-card. Downloaded DLC from (presumably) EU/UK PSN store, with UK PSN account.
Not sure if that helps w.r.t. yank ones...

    2) no idea.

    3) no idea.

    4) Soul Sacrifice, Resogun, Warframe - Remote Play FTW!

    Thanks for that Stinja.

CFW is Custom Firmware, Det - It's what allows the magic to happen.

Oh, don't think there is any movement on the homebrew stuff yet. Not sure you'd want to as the Vita is a great piece of kit as it is and so many great games are downloadable (and doesn't it lock you out of the PS Store and downloads if you've got CFW on it?).

Thought I remember hearing there were downsides to customizing it.

Cheers, chief. Can't believe how much tech you get for £80, quite the upgrade from a GBA.

No cfw yet. All there is hacks on using exploits which allow the psp emulator to be installed. That means you can use the homebrew for the psp. BUT not the vitas power. Until they have kernel access they won't be able to hack it. Which I'd years away. Check out wololo.net for info

I have a white fatty one that I picked up in Japan, it is a thing of beauty. They are slightly different in that the back is glossy instead of that matt finish on the black ones.

Apparently the white ones are now available for general sale in the US, rather than just being part of the AC bundle - just what I read on Kotaku.

They are region free so no issues getting one from abroad, apart from the power cable (you can easily swap this) and warranty (only covered in country of purchase).

Thanks for that chief, picked up a black fatty just now. Going to check out Wipeout and the Curve Studios bundle to start off with.

Normally when it comes tech I'm also a white supremacist so I may have to pick up one of those US versions at a later date.

Also, is it worth the PS Plus signup? Once you've downloaded a free game does that remain so forever or do you only get to play that title for a month?

You get to play it as long as you are a plus member. And you can delete it and reinstall at a later date if you need the space.

That makes sense, thanks. So that means the games I've paid for under Plus are mine even when I'm not a member?

No, you have to continue being a member to access the content (though I think you can manually change the date on your Vita and just not connect to the internet to trick it into thinking you still have PS+, but I think you have to do it before your sub expires).

Thank you very much for that.

I think I'm going to be getting rid of the Vita as I mainly bought it for Wipeout 2048 and its sh*te in comparison to Pulse and Pure on the PSP.

They've went way too over the top and tried to make it flash for the sake of it, half the time you can't tell whats track and whats background.

Fancy an Nvdia Shield now after seeing how well it emulates the Dreamcast.

Possibly, but my main reason for getting the Vita was Wipeout.

The Vita seems to be packed full of games that I've either played before on other platforms or have no inclination to play on this one.

    What's your top 5?

Personally I think I may dust off the GBA again - I prefer platformers, racers and puzzle games all of which it has in abundance.

    Oh, you're a platformer/racer/puzzler guy...

I'm a JRPG guy and there's loads on ma Veets and more coming so I'm content.

Do you have a PS4? Have you tried remote play? It's pretty brill.

My top 5 are all JRPG's so probably not for you.

No PS4 here but I don't mind RPG as long as it isn't a back to back random battle fest, what's your 5?

Well if you are go back to the psp then go for the top 30! There's lot of great ones. Star ocean series is always fun. On the vita I would start with persona 4 as a jrpg and ys memories as an action rpg

I'll get a hold of Persona and give it a try as it looks decent.

Have you ever played a game called Cladun on the PSP? It looks mighty fine.
