    Hi there guys and girls!

i am completley new to the world of rear projection TV's :hiya: i was quite interested in the TOSHIBA 42WH46P that i have seen in my local currys, the only thing is are they any good??? i currently have a 32 inch flat screen panasonic tv, which has a pretty good picture, would the rear projection be better? has anyone here got the TOSHIBA 42WH46P? if so what do you think?

are there any better sets for under £1000?

any help would be really appreciated :lease:

    Thanks

    Andy

    andy :hiya:

You might be better off posting in this section as this display isnt a DLP tv.

The tosh you have mentioned is a popular tv but no where near as good as DLP (different technology and not High Definition). If you have around a £1000 to spend then look at the 46' samsung.

I have seen the Tosh set you are asking about as a friend of mine has one. The grid structure is evident and the picture is very average. Colour representation is also poor to average. I would spend the extra cash and go for a DLP samsung set. A different league all together, demo both and before you buy.

Theres loads of other threads on these sets in these forums just use the search bar at the top right.

    Good luck :)

BTW Welcome to the forums :hiya:

I have to disagree with your comments on the Toshiba, I would suspect that your friend has a less than perfect set. My 42wh46p is astounding and is far better than most plasmas and DLP RPs I have seen. The picture is amazing and the colours and contrast are deep and powerful. I see none of the grid or quality issues you mention.

Like I say in my post, I may be lucky with my set but I wouldn't want anything else, and this is coming from someone who was originally looking for a plasma! :)

As for DLP, I think they are still a long way off (much like plasmas) from being perfect, I really dislike the digital noise they produce and don't think they warrant the extra money. I have no doubts that eventually all of the problems with them will be fixed but for now I wouldn't get one.
