Hi all,

After my SkyHD started playing up, the missus was complaining about missing Britains Got Talent! So we brought an indoor aerial that had a built in booster.

I connected it to the TV (LG HDTV with Freeview built in) and after the scan, it found a lot of channels and they all seem to work well with no breakups etc (signal strength around 85-90%).

But I noticed that BBC1 and BBC2 were missing (as well as a few other channels). Is that normal? I'd assume the BBC channels would be the staple ones you could get - especially above things like BidUpTV!!!!

Secondly, the aerial I've got - as I say, it's got a built in booster with a twisty knob to adjust the power (0-100). Anyone know the best way to use these - as to me, it would make sense to just leave the power at 100 surely? Or could that cause problems by boosting a bad signal and should I try different settings????

Thanks!

Not entirely sure how to read those results - or what you need, but for the Aerial, it says "Hi-Gain".

Do the figures it shows for 'BBC' provide anything useful? Could I manually tune to those settings per channel? (excuse my ignorance again, this is my first experience with Freeview!).

Thanks for your help!

I should say the aerial is a "SLXA" with gain boost - apparantly is a 'favourite of AVF' according to another forum I'm on!:rotfl:

The result given on Wolfbane are based on an aerial mounted outdoors at a height of 10M free from immediate obstructions - something you're not going to achieve with a set-top aerial
Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place or using the incorrect search term but I can find no reference to an SLXA aerial on this forum. I assume this is the item

What is your postcode (or at least the first part of it)?

Yea, I changed the mounted height to 0m :D - got same result.

That is the same aerial - I'm going to have a play now as its hissing down with rain and SkyHD is sitting in the corner crying like a big baby...

Cool, thanks for that - that does sound like the problem. (i.e. Mux1 missing).

Is there anyway around this using the aerial I have (and yes, its the one you linked too)?

Or is it all governed by signal strength etc?

Also, the gain control - am I right to just turn it to full power, or should I try to change that?

Thanks again!

What channels are you missing - it sounds like Mux 1 is the problem....

If this is the aerial then that is most likely your problem.

Have a look here for some more help

It doesn't look like it

Yep pretty much and direction of aerial

You could try changing it, it can't hurt but I think you will need an external aerial...
