New subwoofer help.

A few years back I bought the onkyo HT-S5805 5.1 home cinema system. The subwoofer that came with it broke and I cannot find a replacement. I was wondering what sub woofer would be as good in terms of quality. The subwoofer that broke is the onkyo skw-208 and I was thinking about the yamaha NS-SW100. Would this sound as good? I know my onkyo is downfiring and the yamaha is side firing but not sure what is better. Also would the yamaha work with atmos and would it be compatible with my onkyo receiver? Thanks

As the subwoofer is an active woofer you can use any active woofer to replace it. As a suggestion, take a look at the Wharfedale Diamond SW-150 as a replacement. If you want to use the Yamaha I cannot see any reason why you wouldn't enjoy it over the original Onkyo woofer as almost any woofer would be an upgrade
