i`m after a new speaker set, at the mo i have some old celestion44`s with some missions733 as my rear`s and some crappy wharfdales diamond IV`sas my back rear`s (no centre), my sub is a yamaha YST-SW320.i have a denon 3802 driving them all... i wanted to add nice new matching speakers.i have a budget of about a grand and like the deep bass the 44`s gave me, the mordaunt short range looks good , do they sound ok . i was going for these:
    Mordaunt Short MS905C centre
    Mordaunt Short MS908 Main
    Mordaunt Short MS904 Rears
    Mordaunt Short 302 back surround

i also wanted to throw in another sub and noticed that mordaunt short do one for £150 would this clash with the yammy!

please let me know if these speakers are any good..as i`m a bit of a newbie at this..
    anyother reccomendations are welcome

    thanks

    jason

Can't imagine £150 will buy you much of a sub. Not one that would do justice to the rest that is. I'd save up a bit more (say £350 -£500). Check out some of the threads on here surrounding Velodyne, Paradigm, MJ Acoustics and BK Electronics. All respected manufacturers.

can't comment on the other speakers as I've never heard them.

The Mordaunt Short range has been well received but have a look at Monitor Audio as well.

I second Chris's comment about not buying a cheap sub as you are better off without.

i have the speakers that you want and i think they are fab. they are bassy, clear, loud, good looking.
If i were you i would go for the 903's bi poler's for the rear.
I tried the 904, and others models for the rear inc 906,914,s and for movies the 903 ruled.
in fact i would use the 903's all along the back,

I would sell the yammi sub and use the cash from that, and the other 150. maybe try and save a little more, and buy a second hand sub from the classifide adverts on this site, (some real corkers available)

Or get a paradigm from Rs as they are selling quite cheep of late
(these sell in the US and canada for 2-3 times as much)

The 908's are class they sound great with stereo, and fab for movies, they give the front end one hell of a kick.

If you want any more info on the MS speakers let me know

Really .these sound better than the 904`s??...i` like the deep bass to go all around the room...i hate it when the sound thins out towards the back!!!perhaps i`ll pop in somewhere and listen to the 903`s!

thanks for all ur input...good idea about getting rid of the yamaha tho, i thought it was a bit poo..but with 2 subs i could get the book shelfs(903`s) for the whole back and put a sub at the back..or would this sound stupid
    !!

    thx

    what do you mean?
are you including the bass drivers in the 908's as subs?
Yes you could put the sub behind you!
    You can put them anywhere,
But try and let the sub deside for it's self where it wants to go
to get the best out of a sub you need to take into account sub type, room size and furniture in the room.

The 904's might sound better with multichannel music
but for movies and all round abilitys the 903's are better, and cheeper!

plus if u get the 903's u will have £200 left out of your grand if not more, (you could get a deal of rs for getting the whole kit) and add that to what you could sell the yammy for (= a better sub) = (better alround sound)
