New speakers - small room :)

Hello guys,

I'm new to these forums so thought I'd say hi with a ...... question (apologies if this as been asked before)......

I've recently bought a nice Denon 1905 amp (which I think is great) and am now looking to buy some new speakers.

At present, my sub is a Sony SAWM200 (which tbh honest I'm finding poweful enough) and some satelittes from a Sony Davs500 setup i.e. the little one cone speakers. These are currently on those silver pole type stands (with the bendy neck). It's a 5.1 setup atm.

Basically, I want to change the speakers to something a little better (to possibly handle a bit of bass!!!) and maybe get the extra back centre too (to give me 6.1).

I have to keep the pole stands at the rear as I have no shelf or wall (basically, my stairs are behiond the sofa). Therefore, the speakers cant be 'bookshelf'.

My budget is only about 300 quid unfortunately.

Any ideas?

Thanks very much! :D

How about using some new Mission/Kef/Wharfedale bookshelf/centre speakers up front and moving one of the cubes to the rear?
