New Sony VCR to replace old SLV 625?

Hi,

I would like to find a VCR to replace my aging Sony SLV 625,

I generally use this to transfer CamCorder to VHS and have found edit functions and audio dub useful, are there any Sony products with this as I can only see the SLV SE840 which seems a little low on specs.

I would prefer to keep to all one brand to use smartlink etc. but this limits options I realise.

regards.

AFAIK Sony only make 2 consumer VCR's now - The nicam one you mention and a mono one. I don't think that they are even Sony made, but bought in and rebadged.
The best VCR's now tend to be Panasonics or even better the JVC's (some with TBC). With the low cost you might as well also make it an SVHS VCR. This will give you the better S-Video input/output even if you only use it as a standard VHS deck.

Mark.

I am beginning to reconsider Sony purchases in general - will certainly look at JVC

Thanks

Don't bother with Samsung VCRs look at JVC or Panasonic.

Perhaps it is time for a DVD Recorder?

Hi

A quick question for the owner of the old Sony SLV 625. I just aquired one but Im only using it as a TV tuner. There is no remote control with it, is there a way to tune in the TV stations without the remote?

Thanks in advance!

I no longer have the unit but I will see if I still have the instructions somewhere. I seem to remember the remote was a bit complicated so probably not.

I believe you can download manuals for a small donation here but cannot recommend the site as never used it.

I eventually replaced it with a Sony DVD/VCR combo. Since then the DVD died too! Anyway just I keep the VCR for watching old videos now.

You might find an old remote on one of the auction sites.
