I just set up a new small site for the Sony NW-HD1/3/5 players, since I had
a hard time finding hacks/tweaks for my player.

I'd like to collect all known big hacks there:
    http://www.syndetics.net/sony-hacks/

Any suggestions of what to add?

Also, I found a replacement for SonicStage for the NW-HD5.
    MP3 File Manager:
    http://www.syndetics.net/sony-hacks/sonicstage.html

Is this well known? I didn't see any posts about it, but it works very well.

It's probably a daft question, but has anyone tried the HD5 firmware update on a HD3?

Does the file manager software add any protection to the transfered files like SS does?

Awesome, good stuff dude. From the looks of that MP3 File Manager, it doesn't convert anything to ATRAC... is that right? Just straight MP3 transfers? Can you set it to convert to ATRAC/3/Plus? Thanks, and nice site.

Great idea. I think a lot of people would be interested in a central repository of this kind of info as well as SS tips and tricks. That program is a good find also, don't think anyone has ever mentioned any SS lternative except for the VAIO drag and drop program.

An excellent idea - have added the site to my favourites - well done :smashin:

I am particularly interested in keeping track of firmware updates.

    2004年11月30日に、ご案内させていただいた「NW-HD1」「NW-HD2」の有償アップグレードは、2005年5月31日の受付をもちまして終了させていただきました。

I'm sure there is a translation button somewhere on that site.

Dude: you could get slated on a forums like this for asking such question, but everybody, somewhere in there life did not know what firmware is.

    :lesson:
In computing, firmware is software that is embedded in a hardware device. Often it is provided in flash ROMs and can be updated by an end user.

    Yes
But will the firmware work with the HD3, is anyone out there daft enough to try?
    Not me obviously.

Thanks crl620, I tried the MP3 File Manager and works fine with my recently upgraded NW-HD1 with support for MP3 playback and I can still use SonicStage (2.3) if I wish and SonicStage lists the newly added MP3's that I added via MP3 File Manager on my NW-HD1. Great site crl620 keep up the good work.

I came across this thread and saw that link to download the secondary solution to ss. I cant however get on to your site to download it, if this is due to site maintainence is it possible to give me an alternate download source.
I have already faved your site and will check up regularily when back up again.
    thanks for your help
