Panasonic have new models out in Feb.

    www.avland.co.uk

Sony's last dvd recorders came out around July so the new models might be out then or maybe before if they want to complete with pana who will be getting a head start.

MPEG4 is a different standard of compression that is used in high definition TV.

It is not compatible with DVD's.

Note also that it remains to be seen just what AVland are doing advertising these units as all other information elsewhere says they are not intended for release anywhere but Japan.

There is also contradiction on AVland [ Part says MPEG2 recording ] It is not certain whether MPEG4 will be allowed onto the disc section - It may be restricted to the HDD.

please note the big message "DETAILS ARE TENTATIVE" ......

Please also note that many sites are trying to 'second-guess' the scoop, and the *whole* spec, and even the deck, may just 'disappear'....

I am always amazed how some websites can 'invent' a model that does not exist, due to a mistyping on your part!!

DETAILS ARE TENTATIVE is common before a product comes out.

I would have thought mpeg4 would be for hdd only as the high processing and write times needed.

The LG machines do not write xvid to dvd, only hdd.

Impossible to know until full specs. are released.

The LG's do not allow you to tranfer xvid hdd content to dvd.
