Details of the new Sony DVD Recorders are up on AV Land:

    Sony RDX300
    Replacement for the GX3

    Sony RDX500
The RDX300 with inbuilt Freeview tuner (at last!)

    Sony RDX700
    Replacement for the GX7

    Sony RDX900
    HDD/DVDR Combo - 160GB

    Sony RDX10
    HDD/DVDR Combo - 250GB

Looks like Sony chickened out of including the Freeview tuner in the RX10 :thumbsdow

Also Av Land are now advertising the Panasonic E500 - again no DVB though :thumbsdow Looks like we may all have to wait for Toshiba to release the RDXS34 before we get the much wanted HDD/DVDR DVB model.

AFAIK there will not have progressive scan although they do have Component Output (like the GX3/7).

    Recording will be PAL/SECAM only.

The link for the RDX10 above shows the model RDR-HX1000, which has an anlogue tuner although the web page also references the player as the RDX10 and RDR-HX1000 on the same page !!!

The specific page for the RDX10 still shows a freeview decoder:

Yes - I spotted that - I think the old link is now inaccurate. AFAIK the RX10 will be the model certain European countries will get whereas we get the RX1000 - we'll know for sure when Sony issue a press release in the next week or so. I hope we do get a DVB enabled Sony HDD/DVDR sooner rather than later though

Just as an update the AV Land site now has large JPEGs of all the new Sony DVD recorders.

What happened to the nice slim drawer from the current models?!

The spiel about Time Based Corrector, Pre-Field Noise Reduction and Pre-video Equalizer technologies that rebalance and equalize video content before it is recorded onto a DVD
    - Is this a step up on the current models?

The 300 and 900 will ALSO be available in black though I'm not sure whether the black versions will make it to the UK.

I'd buy them in purple if they had a DVB decoder !
Then again I've got all sorts of gold/silver in my room.

I see AV Land has now dropped the HX1000 altogether (page is still their but no longer as part of the main site) - perhaps indicating a delay?

I'll find out. Have cheekily asked Sony for a review machine. Waiting on their reply.

(I do propose to review it, I'm not allowed to say for where at the moment).

Sony's press release indicates "throughout Europe" September 2004.
