The engineer is coming out on Monday to install my sky+ box but I am also getting phone and broadband of them and i need a new phone line installed for this as at the moment my phone line is just hanging down the side of my building, they are sending openreach out on the 12th to do this.
My question is will I be able to watch sky as soon as the box is plugged in or will I have to wait until my phone line is activated, I just received my card in the post and it says I need a phone that takes incoming and outgoing calls but I'm sure at my parents house they don't have a phone line in the back of their box

The condition is that you have the telephone connected for the first twelve months of your contract.
It's part of the installer's - they're not engineers - job to fix the connection but if you tell him the line will be active soon he will probably still do the job, and of course it makes no difference to what you can watch whether the line is connected or not.

Mine has never been plugged in. It's the last thing they do when they install so it will be too late to change his mind by then.

Thanks that's ok then here's me thinking that they were gonna put the box in and I would be able to watch anything on it for 2 weeks

What you watch comes from the satellites through your dish to the receiver and then to the TV - the phone line doesn't do anything to help the programmes on their way.:)
