I'm a bit miffed  I've only been with Sky for 3 weeks & now they release an 80GB box for the same price that I bought my 40GB   Do I have any chance of moaning & having my box exchanged for the newer model?

Has anyone else had the same annoying problem?

You got what you paid for:)

At no time did SKY advertise the new model and these and other forums were talking about this very issue well in advance of your purchase.

Personally if it's working then I would not tempt fate by wanting to get rid of it, however if it ever does develop a fault then there is always a chance you may get the latest spec (it has been known for warranty replacements to be new as opposed to refurbs).

There wasn't one although Sept 1st was the first day for new offers so reasonable to assume that they new model became the defacto standard at that point and if you look at the SKY website it does now state a 40 hour (80gig) approx recording capacity.

As the older spec model supplies become low (during August) the new model was filtered into the system to prevent shortages, some people therefore did get a new model even though they only paid for the 40gig model.

Not 100% sure but is the no quibble cancellation 7 days or 30 days?
Maybe worth checking your contract to see.

Tell them it's going wrong now and again. I did that with my 160 (it was actually true). With me they couldn't find anything wrong with the dish (even though my normal Sky box upstairs was also going wrong), so swapped for a new 160. Everything worked so I'm assuming the engineer fiddling with the dish knocked it back into shape accidentally (can't believe swapping a Sky+ box fixes a seperate Sky box - My dad *handled* it for me while I was work and forgot to mention the other box).

Anyways the point is there is a good chance they will just replace the box for a new 80gb model. And even if they swap for another 40gb, well at least you tried. And you should have a year of complaining (for free) to give it another few stabs.

    Cheers

Ahh, but that was a Sky+160, and there's only one version of that. What could happen with videonasty is that they take away a lovely Pace V2, and give him a nasty Amstrad, and then his video really would be nasty ! :)

Both Pace and Amstrad. They are meant to be identical but someone this week was saying the Pace version was quieter.
