AVI, Alan has just confirmed the 1080 C3X is winging its way to Heathrow:)

Unfortunately I cannot answer your questions at this time.

However, if you can make it to the London Sound and Vision Show at the Park Inn near Heathrow this weekend you can get the lowdown on the latest developments from SIM2 and see the current range including the brand new 1080 C3X.

I was wondering if some of you going to the show could give your impressions of the Sim2 1080p and your thoughts of the 3000e and C3xe in comparison. Is the 3000e almost as bright as the C3xe and is the color saturation of the 3000e pretty close to the c3xe?

Any chance the 3000e could have the darkchip 4 in it at the Show?

AFAIK it's only the C3X currently but I'm also interested in knowing if/when the 3000e will move to DC4.

We do not have any details as yet of the introduction of DC4 on the 3000E I'm afraid.

The difference between D80 & HT380 is that there are two lens options on the 380, enhanced Brilliant Color which enables full CMS with our new Live Colors Calibration software, which enables full control of primaries & secondry colors.

    Our colour wheels RGBCMY

Alan (or Jeff) - Does the D80E have the RGBCMY colour wheel or just the HT380?

I assume it's available now as there is a user having problems with one in this forum.

Assuming everying goes to plan I'm taking a look at the 15S1 and 11S2 in November. I would like to compare with the 3000e before deciding what way to go and hopfully there's a DC4 3000e not too far away. :)

Often asked but pretty irrelevant IMHO for a pure video product. Arguably some benefit from the AV Sync but deep colour and xvYCC are nothing but marketing blah blah!

I saw the Demo of this unit today and very impressive especially when used with the panoramic lens.

The difference in lenses is not just that there are options. The HT380 uses, as with other Grand Cinemas, the T1 lens as standard which is far superior to the D80 or D80e lens, giving better corner to corner focus and sharpness and zero CA issues. The HT380 is not a Domino.

Does the HT380 already ship with the CMS software or will it be a future upgrade ?

The external software is due late Sept early Oct for the single chippers. I have a version for my HT5000 and it is fantastic. Primaries, secondaries and white point all defineable by x,y and gain plus loads more. Its EBU and Rec709 as well. Its a calibrators dream, my guy wouldnt stop raving about it once he'd seen it. A few of us over the pond have been using it for a short while now.

    Here it is

Will the D80E get this CMS calibration software? or just the grand HT line.

I take it the D80E even without this rather cool software can be dialed in for accurate colour?

HT and C3X models only. The D80 is very accurate color wise ootb and the white point can be dialed in using x,y and Duv coordinates ( 0.313, 0.329 with 0 Duv for D65 is no problem).

    @ Alan or Jeff P

What's the difference between Brillant Color and enhanced Brilliant Color ? Also is the T1 lens in the HT380 different to the lens in the D80e ?

    Thanks

The T1 lens is very different to the D80e. Its the same as the HT3000 and C3X variants.

T1 is the short throw, T2 is long throw. There is a T3 lens coming early 2008 offering even longer throw of 2.6-3.5

Obviously seperating the entire throw range over a number of lenses avoids the potential problems of a large zoom range.

You may be interested in the HT3000 HOST. Its an e model and DC4 due Oct/Nov. I assume standard HT3000e will be DC4 fairly soon.

    http://www.sim2usa.com/prodotto_.ph...name_p=HT3000 HOST&menu=menu_home_theater.htm

I posted a brief explaination here for someone that may or may not be of use
