How is this possible and why even bother?
The new Sharp pj is on PriceJapans home page and its release date is Nov 2006 !

I recently demoed the XV-Z9000 and was mightly impressed and it came at a very competitve price, if fact i can't find it anywhere else at the price or even close!

But for £300-400 sobs more I could import the new XV-Z10000 from them.

If I use a credit card through paypal (the only option) will i be covered/insured? This bothers me. A direct bank transfer with a firm i've never dealt with is a bit scary:rolleyes:

A lot of people on this forum seem to rate them, but I would like to hear any recent comments/problems/happy ending stories...

I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Price Japan. If you can get the Z10k for only a few hundred more do it. It is a totally differeent (read way better) beast than the Z9k.

You will not be covered by your CC guarantees if you pay using your card through paypal. As far as the CC company would be concerned they would have fulfilled their part of the bargain as they pay Paypal not the end retailer. I wouldn't worry though. I bought 2 x LPX500 pjs from kaneda and he/they were just superb. As good as any UK company I have evr dealt with and product arrived in 4 days (2 of those being the weekend).

    Go fo it.

Have never heard even one bad word said about Kaneda/PriceJapan.

Some good deals to be had locally at present though. I'm told that the Z10k is due a price reduction shortly - something to bear in mind.

Unfortunately yes :( but still worked out way cheaper than UK prices. Ask Kaneda to mark it down ;)

I can't see UK pricing on the Z10k coming anywhere near the all in c. £4k price from PJ.

    Thats good news, thanks!

Already, I thought this was a new PJ. Might be worth hanging on a bit then to see what happens. I would prefer to buy from a UK dealer for piece of mind but if the cash difference is the price of a new player I'd take a chance.

Thanks for you comments and tips.

Just this minute received an email from Price Japan assuring me confirming its UK voltage and the OSD is in English. Further good news.

Do you think theres anything else I should be asking???

The Z11k and Z12k are the new ones. The Z10k has been around about 12 months or so now. Can't see it dropping below £5k but been wrong before :)

Oh God no, I thought it was the new one. Thats means I gotta look at the spec of the even newer ones and leave myself gutted cos I can't afford it.............!

Why have they quoted the release date of the Z11000 as 2006?
I think I can only justify the Z10 anyhow. I need a screen yet too :-( Look at a few recently and although the Stewart is lovely I think a NEXNIX tab-ten is in order.

    S.

M, have you found any sites with the spec on the Z11 or 12?

    Thanks.

Release date is 6th November NOT Nov 2006.

    http://www.projectorcentral.com/news_story_614.htm

The biggest improvement is the claimed 5500:1 CR against 2600:1 of the Z10k. How that will actually look though I don't know. Not sure I'll be upgrading mine rather waiting for the next big improvement net year or the year after.

the new Z-11000 is quoted as 4,380.41 GBP.

the new Z-10000 is quoted as 3,720.41 GBP.

the quote i had for the Z-9000 is 3525 GBP (uk dealer).

But i may have to pay tax on Z-11.

ebay has a dealer selling Z-9000 for 2090 GBP (thats pretty good i think) its ebay usa and the trader has good feedback!

    S.

updated due to my GBP errors! doh!

Plus any vat (and tax). Damn good price. Just one word of warning though (or a few words). I read on AVS that the Z11k may only have Japanese menus etc. No confirmation bt suggest you check with Kaneda first.

Or you could have my Z10k for £3k :)

I understand Sharp are offering the Z9000 at this price (£3500 ish) to fill the gap below the Z10000 in their range. The new mid range model is not yet available.

    Richard.

If Messiah is serious I would buy his Z10000 from him!

The difference between them all is the generation of Texas Instruments DLP chip they use.

They're all 1280x720. The Z9000 uses the "HD1" chip, the Z10000 the "HD2" and the Z11000/Z12000 the "HD2+". The HD2 is already very good indeed and early reports seem to suggest the HD2+ is a bit better but not significantly so. If the prices of the HD2 based machines are coming down you could make an argument that they are a better buy.

To be honest, the HD2 chip already does what most users want so incremental improvements are going to be small from now on at this resolution. The next big jump will be to 1920x1080 resolution (full 1080 HDTV) but this is a while away.

If you are nervous about importing, you can either wait for the Z10k UK price to drop or take a look at something like the Benq PE87000 which is about £3900+VAT with a 3-year warranty (it uses the HD2 chip - same as Z10k).

The next high-res Sharp DLP in the UK will be the XV-Z12000e, this is due Q1 2004. The XV-Z10000e might have a Christmas offer on at the moment.

    That was quick Richard

Was hoping for a Z10k for a couple of £k for Christmas :D

Price has dropped slightly in Japan so with the 11/12k iminent it makes sense that the Z10k is due a price drop.

    Fingers crossed :smashin:
