Hi New to the group so please be gentle as I might not know all the tech terms. I bought a new Sammy 50" on Friday, after getting it set up and connected we are disappointed with the pic quality. I could understand if the pq was poor on terrestrial and satellite as maybe my signals are not as good as some but it is on dvd too (connected with a svhs lead, I have tried a scart and alternate dvd player for reference). The edge of images do not seem sharp where they contrast against a different colour there is blurred effect. When the tv pans across scenery fast I can briefly see some interlacing. There is some haloing going on too. The dvd's I have tried have all been original discs so no copied discs compressed with dvd shrink. I particuarly notice the blurred effect when I put on sky news and look at the moving scrollbar it is hard to read. I have left the tv on now for a constant 48 hours as I read that it can take 100 hours for the lamp to settle in but since others have posted how thrilled they have been with theirs immediately I not noticing any improvement. After reading so many threads on here where people say that the pq is fantastic and better than plasma I am not sure wether the set is working as it should as this is my first foray away from CRT. Any comments would be helpful.
