New Samsung LE32R74BDX- and advice?

Having just recieved my first LCD a Samsung LE32R74BDX as a present, I was wondering if anybody had any advice/tips regarding its use.
I have read lots about changing contrast and colour settings via Service menus etc, but am unsure if this would be best practise.
I will only be connecting a DVD player and a Humax 9200T PVR, which Scart socket should i be plugging these into?

Any advice gratefully recieved.
