I'm sure the 5000:1 is a dynamic contrast and not the actual contrast. Just like on the current models the dynamic contrast is 3000:1 but the actual contrast is 800:1.

There are a few other differences.. different remote control, viewing angel is bigger 170vs178, so they might be using a slight different panel.

Haven't found anything else different yet.

I spoke to Samsung Germany today,

The LE-32M61B does indeed differ from the LE-32M51B:

    - viewing angle
    - contrast (5000:1) < Disneyland?
    - colour of the case at the bottom
    - different remote.

For the rest there are no apparent differences. Concerning the price of the 61 model I was quoted a list price of 2399 euro.

To put things in perspective, the 51 model is being sold from 1480 euro's and upwards here in "Euroland". The list price that is being advertised by Samsung for the 51 models is 2499 which seems odd...they might have dropped it as we speak.

The guy from Samsung Germany told me that the 61 model is currently shipping although nobody seems to stock it yet.

Visiting the "Media Markt" today in Germany (big retail chain) I came across a Sharp 32" LC-32GD1EA display for 1799 euro's. None of the new series LCD's stocked except for the Sharp P50 pal friendly series. (Will this GD1 keep up with the new LCD's which are being released?)

I am looking for a nice 32" myself - runners up for me are:

Sharp LC-32GA6E (or its black brother the LC-32BV6E)
    Samsung LC-32M51B
    Samsung LC-32M61B

I should add the new Sony, Panasonic and Hitachi offerings but I just find their appearance less then appealing.

Any ideas how the "6" series offerings stack up to eachother?

    Thanks.

    Richard from Belgium

(Funny that there's little conversation about the manufacturers latest offerings...at least less than I expected)

I was on the phone to hiwayhifi.com in the UK and they said that they don't know much about them yet but will be stocking them from the end of October. I just hope that they won't cost too much!
