 My new Sammy 50" arrived yesterday !! Got it all set up and what a picture. The PQ is totally wicked, and i am so glad i got rid of my plasma for this DLP set ! Next in line is to get my X-Box chipped up and see what PQ is like over normal DVD player viewing !

Two happy Samsung owners  - could you both please comment on the sharpness of the 50" as its getting some criticisms from potential buyers and I wanted to hear from owners...

How does it compare to your previous CRT/rear proj?
How is it with RF, digital TV, DVD, Games etc?
How does it compare/change with connections - RGB, Component, HDMI etc?

Sorry for the lots of questions but I want some good feedback as getting a decent demo is a real problem where I live.

    Cheers

PQ is very sharp on sky, sky movies is jaw dropping,i watched Bad Boys 2 last night and you could not fault it one bit ! RF is good(providing you have a good feed)
DVD playback wicked ! Have not tryed X-Box out yet nor HDMI. But looking at PQ now things will only get better with these 2 plugged in-RGB very good, component excellent ! 99.9% Better than my plasma !!

Cheers Guys :smashin: Let me know how you get on with games and HDMI :) From what I've heard there's a leap in PQ and sharpness when you switch to HDMI!

So how does the picture out of the box compare with the demos in the shops? I ask because I've seen some soft washed out pictures in shops but this TV receives such great reviews I thought it must be down to the setup.

Good Luck - I'm very jealous of you guys

The demos in shops are all crap ! You cant even really see what PQ is like if you take in your own DVD'S or laptop. Best try and find someone on this Forum kind enough to give you a showing at there place. :smashin:

I think that's a good point and backs up my suspicion that the samsungs i've seen in store are not just being fed poor signals but they have been very poorly calibrated!! Now that must be a skill in itself!

Getting a set calibrated........Pay the money and get an expert to do it ! BUT setting it up yourself, adjusting it, it's all down to personal taste.Eveybody is different !! BUT you will still be the ENVY of all your mates that see it and want one! :D :D :D :D

Hi Guys - have any of you looked over on the AVSForum at the HLR-5085 which is the name for the SP50L7HX in the USA. It's also sometimes called the Captain Kirk Model because of its Star Trek looks. Anyway they appear to have lots of threads and posts with tweaks and tips for this and other Samsung TVs as they've had them a long time.

    Hope this helps

    Cheers

How much would a expert charge to calibirate the model. Surely Samsung know best.

Any chance we have an expert here who can post us the settings we need?
