New room layout where to place surround speakers

Morning everyone. After years of trying to persuade my wife our room layout was wrong we finally finished moving it around so I need a new home for my surround speakers.
I have Dali Zensor 1 at the front with Dali Zensor Picos as the surrounds.
My wife insisted they needed to be on the rear wall as she didn’t want them on the sides. I played afew tracks off the Dolby Atmos disc and they sound ok there but when gaming or watching tv which puts out 5.1 we can’t hear them at all, I’ve stood by them and the sound is clearly coming out and I’ve turned them up but still can’t hear that they’re there.
I’m assuming it’s the placement so I was just after some advice.
The wife had agreed if they need moving onto the side walls that’s ok or should I get a bracket and keep them where they are and angle them in?
Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

I'd move them to the side walls if the good lady has agreed to that. :)

What AVR/Amp are you using?
I’m using Denon 2300, the speakers will be at the side and very slightly behind but not by much, would that be ok?
Thanks

I would just make sure that they are angled to the MLP whether on the side wall or where they are currently.

Ideally you'd angle them towards the seating position but having them firing across the room just behind you can also work really well.
