Before we get onto the new Toshiba models I've just had a phone call from TV & Video Direct to say that my 32WL48 is on the way - at least it will be soon.

It appears they are still trickling in. TV & V Direct said they were getting some but not enough to satisfy all their waiting list.

What's wrong with plasma? Nothing really. If you want a larger screen, say 42" or above, the economics would favour plasma.

I was trawling round a few shops in Leicester this week and two of the better quality dealers had the Pioneer PDP-435XDE hooked up to live HD satellite feeds. You really could tell the difference. They both swore by Pioneer and said they had never had any problems with them.

The prices look great, 37" for around £1700 and the 42" at £2300 according to unbeatable.

I was holding out for the new Sharp range but if they take the **** with there prices like they have with there Titanium range then it will be a Tosh for me.

    Cant wait.

Consumers are increasingly made aware of (and concerned about) energy consumption of Plasma TVs.

What I was told about the Titanium range is that they are Sharp's top of the range screens and they don't allow internet discounting on them. Neither then do the high street retailers have to follow suit. Same applies to all Loewe models. The price difference therefore is as much marketing policy as it is cost of production, components etc.

BTW - For the Toshiba add 32" for around £1100

Is it me, or are Toshiba releasing a new range every 6 months these days. I bought my 26" WL46 last summer, (Aug), that was replaced with the WL48 just before xmas, and now there are new models out in just a few months! I thought new ranges were a yearly thing? Plus my tv retailed for £2,000. The latest 26" with hdmi retails for just £1,000!

Sorry about the time delay...i was out last night (i am hungover)

back to my original comment, there is nothing wrong with plasmas....i am just saying that most people have started buying lcds.

The lcd tech is moving forward in leaps and bounds, while plasma technology has peaked.

LCD's IN MY OPINION are more gadgety and demand has risen exponetially for them, while plasmas are slowing.

WHy do you think there are so many manufacturers releasing lcd ranges, but 1 or 2 plamas.....They have no new tech to add to existing products.

LCD's though are getting high def panels, higher contrast ratios, faster pixel response times and picture processing softwARE (ACTIVE VISION - TOSH, PIXEL PLUS - PHILLPS WEGA ENGINE - SONY ETC)

NO LCD AND PLASMA DEBATE INTENDED IT ALREADY BEEN DONE TO DEATH....JUST VOICING MY OPINION.....

    cheers

(ps still feeling sick and getting an ear bashing from the girlfriend)

The hype surrounding the new Tosh 27, 32 and 37 inch LCDs is certainly justified. Last years models were good but having seen them side by side the performance of the new sets is far far better. The price should be good and they are made here in the UK. Definitely worth waiting for.........

    Tosher,

    Thanks for the info. I have a few questions ;

    1. Can you give us a bit more info on picture quality. What's it like with Sky/Freeview and DVD ?

    2. What is the colour of the surround of the WL56 series ?

    3. When do you think they will be available in UK ?

Unbeateable have the 32WL56 at £1099 + delivery which I think is a good price.

    Regards

    Dave

And having to recharge the gas inside the screen every few years it can get even more expensive to run. :(

Mr Sparkle. These larger screen models are put together in Toshiba's Plymouth factory.

i believe that the 32wl56 will be just over £1000!!!!

    A 32" LCD with 800.1 contrast ratio -- 1366 x 768 pixels

active vision, good pixel response time, hdmi input, 550 colour

Seems like it will sell like hot cakes

I would prefer to get the 32wl48, but u can't get hold of it.....

For the price this will be one of the top selling LCD's for this year.....

PS I am sure that reviews will help sales, but u should always go and play around with the real thing, before spending your pennies!!

Don't forget about the "flagship" WLT58 series coming out later in Aug/Sept. I don't know too much about the differences other than they have a digital tuner and a helpful two HDMI inputs.

The website for leconcepts.com suggests that the 37WL56B is out this week (25-Apr)!

    (See the red scrolling banner)

Although this has the 37in at £1999, so not as good as unbeatable.

I wonder if the date is really true ?

I'm asking them. I doubt it as Google only turned up one hit on the model number.

I'm after a 37" LCD after my telly packed up last night.

    :lesson:
the new range is geat and i have heard that the 32 inch will be out mid way thru next month....

the 32wl48 will still be avilable, but most retailers are just honouring pre-orders that they have accepted all the way back to the end of last year.....

i reckon that the 32wl56 will sell for possibly £1020 on the cheap websites.....Digital Direct, TV and Video, Beyond Television etc..... :boring:

I thought its resolution was supposed to be 1366 x 768?

How am I ever going to decide between it and the Hitachi 32LD7200?
