For those that are interested (I presume thats everyone here!), there is an excellent thread about the new projectors from Sony, TI, Sharp, Epson etc here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=578853&page=1

Excellent photographs of the new kit and interesting narrative. Well worth a visit.

It does indeed. It should really shake the industy up. I can't believe Sharp and Yamaha can still showcase their DC3 equipped DLP projectors at CEDIA both with retail prices around $12-13k when the Sony should is $10K.

Yamaha and Sharp need to take a look at the Ruby and wake up.

After seeing the Sim2 C3X. I had it in my mind that 3 chip DLP would be my next upgrade, but after hearing how good the Ruby is, especially when alongside the Qualia, I might be swayed in a different direction. Maybe. :)

Still, I won't be upgrading for another 18months or more, and a lot can hapen with products and pricing in that time. The past 12 months is a good example.

This might just be me, (believing too many rumours or just wishful thinking) but there appears to be a lot of projectors missing from CEDIA this year. Or maybe it's too early to say for sure yet.

    But where are the following;

    Sony HS60,
    Infocus new models,
    Optoma new models,
    Optoma 3 chipper,
    1080P D5 LCD,
    JVC's response to the 'Ruby'.
    ............

I'm sure this list could go on. But as for production models go it's looking like the gem of CEDIA 2005 is the 'Ruby'.

CES is only 4 months away so perhaps the "no-shows" will turn up there?

One for the strange but true crowd, here's a new Epson 720p projector with a built-in dvd player!

Cheers Paul, Let's hope so. However I was hoping to upgrade some time around November. I doubt now that the Sony HS60 will make it to the UK until 1st 1/4 2006.

As for the Ruby it's too early really to say what the pricing difference between the UK and USA will be. But going by early indications, I'm sure it will end up as another shining example of Rip-Off Britain. Let's hope not though...

Projectors like the epson are probably not the best idea for those who want to ceiling mount them. :)

    PaulB,

Think they've had them here for a while. Watched a Police road safety DVD when renewing my driving licence last year! :rotfl:
