Have been out of the loop for a while - is the Rotel RSP-1098 out?
And what about the rumour about a Denon AV pre-amp based on the AVC-SR1?

Any info, news or rumours appreciated. :)

Still waiting for the info on the Denon Pre/Power combo but it should be based on the successor to the A1SR which is due to appear late this year/early next year.

Yamaha are releasing the DSP-Z9 but that's a big integrated amp with some nifty features. I know you like the Yamaha's Reiner! ;)

Yeah, I noticed the AZ9 was THX Ultra 2 rated. I had to do a double take when I read the news article. I'll be having pork wings for dinner next! It also has a auto setup routine microphone doodad too. Looks good.

What's wrong with the current crop of processors: TAG, Meridian et al?

Nothing wrong with them me thinks, it's just that I expect the Rotel to be cheaper and I like that LCD screen on the front panel. :)
Though of course I would want to listen to it first.

Hm, hadn't heard about the AZ9 ... will do some investigation immediately though I think I will go the seperate route next time I upgrade ....

If you fancy an LCD screen, how about a Parasound Halo C1?

Does anyone here actually need a built in LCD screen?

Can anyone think of any reason why anyone would need such a screen?

    DVD-Audio menu navigation, most likely.

I guess also useful settings options on the processor- messing around with menus on Plasma could cause screenburn.

Although personally if I really needed a screen I'll try and find a 3" B&W TV used in a caravans, or mod a portable handheld TV to display composite.

does anyone need a tv that can display a half dozen channels split onto one screen!? Im sure some people would consider a color lcd display on their processor something they just 'must' have. Then there will be other who look upon it as a fancy gadget (such as myself). I suspect the biggest need is that they will make a machine look cool.

At the end of the day, none of us exactly NEED our home cinema and hifi stuff at all, let alone any fancy LCD screens!

Ok, I admit it: I don't NEED the LCD screen but it does look cool - IMHO.
I could think of a few ways to use it but it's not mandatory. The main interest comes from the price, considering that I want to partner it with Rotel amps when the time comes.
Sure, a Tag-Bryston combo might outperform it but it's also much more expensive.

Haven't found anything on the Yamaha - does it really exist? Any pointers welcome.
