It may sound a silly question, but my Samsung came in a massive cardboard box which I have put in the cellar. Probably a lot of people don't have massive storage space. I'm keeping the box in case anything goes wrong. But in case i didn't would there be problems if i had to send it back within the guarantee period?

If you have to send it back to the manufacturer then they usually or will send you a box out to return it in, you may have to ask but they usually do offer.

I never thought of that. Excellent suggestion. I will keep it in case i have to live in a cardboard box. Its big enough. I could cut spaces for a door and windows - perfect!

Its a great question though .. I have now had my plasma exactly a week and the box (and the old 42" rear projection telly) is now taking up most of the garage !!!

I normally keep boxes for AV gear but this one ain't fitting through the loft hatch !!

I think I'll wait another week and then get rid of it.

We need a poll to see what everyone else has done !!

if you have the removable tray type box (a la panasonic) you could collpase the bigger part for flat storage

Joking apart I gave up on mine fairly rapidly.I can't see me ever selling the plasma,it's more likely to end up in a bedroom.I replaced all my AV kit at the same time, boxes everywhere! There is a limit to how many boxes anyone has room for!Perhaps you should sell the plasma box on e-bay to someone intending to sell their plasma who has previously disposed of the box,but you'd need a big box to deliver it in :D

Thats a great idea. Perhaps I could sell boxes to put Plasma boxes in to sell on Ebay. But I will then have to get boxes in which to put the boxes which will hold the Plasma boxes.

Has anyone checked the share prices of cardboard box companies since the advent of Plasma TVs?

I always keep my boxes as I know I upgrade every year or so, and having the box definitely makes it easier to sell.
All the Plasma boxes I have seen have a tray and a top section, and as someone said the top section can fold flat no actually making it that bad to store.

i always keep all packaging for my av gear. Mainly for packing kit in when sending back for repair or when selling.
But the the box that the pv500 came in is so massive and i can understand when some of you want to chuck it out, mine went to the shed!

Lucky old you, I got an arsey sticker on the bin saying that the lid would was not shut so they could not empty the bin.

I drove round the civic centre on my to work at 5am and dumped it on the town hall steps along with the sticker.

Box for mine lasted about 10 minutes!! Fortunately, it's never been off the wall since it was installed.

You should always keep the box for at least the standard returns period laid out in the sellers returns policy. Most policies will allow you to return your equipment within a certain period, often 14-28 days, if it's not faulty as long as it's sent back "as new" and in the original packaging. So if you decide that your plasma isn't for you then at least you should be able to get a full refund within a limited period of time.
