A monster to be sure. I would love to hear one when it hits the market
Still no DTS-HD, DD+ or DD Lossless. It just seems a bit shortsighted considering these formats will be available on next-gen DVD, hopefully in the next 6 months or so.
OK so it lacks those in question but what use are they when nothing supports them and wont be for another 6 months. Do you even know if these formats are available to the manufacturers at the moment??
When they have machines that do then you release a new 'upgraded' machine into the market and make more money
The amp is supposedly out in October, which seems fairly close to the reported release of HD DVD (Q4 2005).
Looks wise it's almost identical to the Denon 3805 if you ask me!
Styling is a cyclical excercise.....
Looks to be a well specced bit of kit for the price. If I take into account I won't touch either of the new formats with a bargepole until they've shown some compatability with one another and started to be sold by mass market emporiums, I'd get a reasonable amount of use out of it as well...........
Well this does look very nice. I also quite like this
2014i replacement due in Oct for £799.....states HDMI switching, but that needs to be confirmed as I'm not sure.
Also, I expect to see a VSX-AX6 which will sit below the VSX-AX10...
Lookiing very good value for money this Autumn. As for DTS-HD; DD+; DD Lossless u should not expect to see those in Amps until well into 2006. Then only in flagship amps at first as this will be a selling point. Will hit mainstream amps in 2007 I would say.
on the AX2 page the specs says its got ilink yet looking at the connection table it says it has none. So has the AX2 got them or not (methinks it has due to the 'i' at the end of the model no.)
It does not seem they are available to manufacturers yet as this is what I got from an exec. at Marantz (3/6/05):
Due to the fact that many issues still remain in the finalization of HD DVD
or Blu-Ray, we aren't talking about DTS HD or Dolby Digital + yet. There
are still many issues to be worked out with both new surround formats and as
of now, the specs aren't finalized for either.
Thanks for your understanding and stay tuned.
It states HDMI switching, any ideas on how many though? 2-in/1-out or 3-in/1-out?
And It will upscale composite, component and s-video to hdmi. Which is nifty. Not sure how well it will do that though!
First week out Im having one
I suspect that they'll be using toshiba's two in, one out chipset as it seems to be the fave at the moment.
I agree it does look similar to Denon styling, but i bet it will be a cracking amp...
Are there any amps around the similar price mark with 3 in, 1 out coming out anytime soon?
I think that the others are expensive- Denon's A11 has three HDMI's and a DVI in but they want £2k of your hard earned for that.
Looks like I'll be saving for a bit longer in that case!
