Does anyone have any information regarding the new range of players

I am considering an RA82 to compliment my E30 but seems silly to buy now if new ones are around the corner

I would really want one with component outputs, the 5 disc version seems to have it but no others

Panasonic DVD-S35, DVD-F65 and DVD-S75 all have component video outputs.

what I want is a decent player with component and capable of playing back -RAM

    S35

the S35 seems pretty cheap but looks basic

    I couldn't find info on the S75

What difference does the onboard 5.1 decoding make?

    cheers

I'm guessing you wouldn't need it, simply use the decoding in your amplifier ?

It's mainly for older Pro-Logic amplifiers / receivers without on-board Dolby Digital / DTS decoders, if they feature multi-channel inputs for external decoders, then it allows DD / DTS to be processed by your DVD player then passed along ordinary analogue phono cables to the separate channels.
Modern Dolby Digital / DTS amplifiers / receivers simply need a single optical or co-axial digital interconnect to receive the digital signal from the DVD player, making on-board DVD player decoding redundant.
Unless the quality of DVD player decoding is higher than your amplifier / receiver of course.

Good old Avland.co.uk have most of the info on these new Panasonic players:-

    DVD-S35EBS

    DVD-F65EBS

    DVD-S75EBS

Also some of the European Panasonic web sites have more detailted info but of course in various languages, Example Panasonic Switzerland has a full spec on all three new players but in Germany, I could not get Altavista Translator to work with the Panasonic Switzerland site.
