I've stopped looking at the plasma forum for the last couple of months since starting a new job, and now I'm back and feel like I've lost touch completely!

I'm after a plasma for the old man - he's got a very simple set of requirements - 1) it has to be HD ready, 2) it needs to be a TV (not going down the seperate audio route), and 3) max 42".

I'm a big fan of Panny's, and want him to go down this route too, as mine has been perfect since I bought it (PE50). Now the big question is, what the hell is going on with the PX60 and PV600 - what are these models and what is the difference between the PV600 and the PV500 or the PX60 - I can't see that much of a difference in the specs, but the price for the PX60 and PV500 seem very close.

I had a search through the threads and couldn't find anything after a quick look, so if this has been answered before, please forgive me and point me in the right direction.

    Any help much appreciated.

well first of all there is no PV600 for uk, for uk its PX600 and PX60...

    PV500 is last years model...
PX600 will replace PV500 next month (its not released yet)
PX60 has just been release in the uk

PX600 and PX60 are very similar but I think PX600 has the following additioanl feature...

    SD card slot
    Sorround Sound
    PIP

    Plus better speakers.

It is also slightly larger (due I would imagine to the larger speakers)

Is the styling/build the same on the PX60 and PX600? I saw a PX60 in Currys for the first time today, 42 inch model.

It looked much smaller than the 43 inch Pioneer next to it but more "plasticy" than I remember the PV500.

I wasn't particularly impressed with Curry's price £2399 for the cabinet version and £1899 for the pedistal. These are similar prices to what the PV500 was going for if I recall correctly and I thought these sets were supposed to be cheaper? And £500 for a stand! What is that about?
