here is an email i recieved this morning from panasonic uk

Thank you for your e-mail enquiry.

Currently Panasonic UK plasma and LCD TVs are unfortunately not compatible with high definition transmissions however they do convert the signal input to a higher definition than earlier models and CRT TVs. There is no HD transmission in the UK as yet. When this comes about we would hope that the broadcasters ensure that it is widely usable. We cannot regrettably future proof a product.

We have no plans as yet to update the digital boards on existing units however we are looking into the possibility of launching a new series of Plasma that accept HD broadcasts via HDMI. We have no details regarding this as yet however there are usually new models unveiled at our trade show at the end of March.

I regret that I am unable to be of more assistance to you at present.
However, of course, if you should have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us on 08705 357357 or [email protected] and we will endeavour to assist.
