    Yes! :D

Today I was in a A/V store when they had a new Panasonic 36" Direct View 16:9 TV here in Dubai. When I got closer to the TV (it wasn't playing anything) I saw that "576p and 1080i" were written ON the TV! WOW! A TV that supports PAL progressive scan AND 1080i!

The price of the TV with stand is $2,725 US.

I don't think this TV is available in Europe though. Anyhow, this is good news for me! :D

Sounds very promising indeed if its true. I've got a soft spot for Panasonic TVs so if this set comes out over here, things will get very interesting indeed.

Don't get too excited, Panasonic CRT moire negates benefit of Progressive Scan, Pal or NTSC.

Yeah right, and who exactly in Luton is going to be interested in service problems, not to mention Panasonic U.K., it's not worth the bother.....

lol Exactly Gringottsdirect. I'll be contempt with the Toshiba for now. Once I'm back working I'll save up and get a plasma one day. Stress - one day ^_^

Snake II, just click the "User CP" button at the top, then go to "Edit Options". Scroll down and find the "Change Avatars" button and click that. Sadly the image can only be 200x200 pixels but it can be animated. I was thinking about changing mine but then its a rather nice icon I cropped ^_^

Thanks to FEA on a Swedish forum this info is available on Panasonic TX-32PH40D:

Der seit Juli im Handel erhältliche Panasonic-TV TX-32PH40D unterstützt nach Aussage von Panasonic jetzt doch die Progressive Scan-Wiedergabe in PAL und NTSC.

    Hi

being German, I'll quickly translate this for you:

The new Panasonic TV supports both NTSC and PAL Progressive!

The first TV sold in Europe to do so, since the Toshiba only supports NTSC progressive.

The German computer magazine "ct" also reported on this. Panasonic also plans to introduce PAL Progressive - capable DVD-players.

Hopefully all other TV manufacturers will follow with PAL Progressive - capable models.

    Regards
    Carsten.

Panasonic's 480/576p and 1080i widescreen TVs are in their second generation in Australia and New Zealand. Aside from their impressive 'on paper' specifications, these TVs boast absolutely shocking picture quality: definitely avoid.
