I have heard Panasonic are releasing a new range of Plasma displays in September. Does anyone have more information on these ?

If there are any websites could they please point me in the right direction ? ;)

    Thanks

I believe one of the major changes it will have is the addition of fans.......

Expect to see four new panels towards the end of September at the earliest.

50" HD (1024x768) pretty similar to the current model.
42" HD (1024 x768) again pretty similar to the current D4 though with fans and a reduced brightness - down by a third.
42" SD (852x480) pretty similar to the current D4BX model.
37" SD (852x480) pretty similar to the current D4BX model

All four of the D5BX models will use the same input video boards as the current line up BNC or DVI on the 42" and 50" models and RCA on the 37" model.

Pricing wise I don't have a clue though maybe look to the Pioneer PDP-433MXE (1024 x 768) panel as an indication of the premium you can expect to pay for the 42" HD Panasonic.

Cant say much more as yet - Panasonic UK have not even told us dealers about these new models yet!!!

    Best regards

    Joe

What are the point releasing these new models ?

Are there known cooling problems with the old ones ? If they are similar spec but more expensive then there is no advantage to the consumer ?

I was hoping for more inputs too (maybe even a scart) :(

Its only the 42" HD that gains the fans and the lower brightness.

The SD model will still be fan free and have the same light output as the current model. Its basically a revision of the current model with the addition of 3:2 video sequencing for NTSC playback.

I believe the Consumer version of the SD 42" model may well have a SCART input - I don't sell the Consumer models so don't have all the relevant pre release info to hand. Also expect to see a new external Tuner Unit for the Consumer panels - that seems to be Panasonics preferred route for provision of SCART inputs.

    Best regards

    Joe
