Was in a Panasonic shop today and the sales rep mentioned the new Tau's will have 75Hz processing in them. Whether this is to replace the troubled 100Hz processing he wasn't sure. New catalogues are out in a week or so. I'll get one and let you know what they say.

You no like! I am quite taken by the looks. Then again i seem to like most of the tellies which look different from the norm. Noted it doesn't look as good in the homecinemachoice pics as it does in the official Panasonic ones. The new brochure is available as a pdf here --> http://www.panasonic.co.uk/catalogues/AV2003.pdf
It says very little about the tv - no details about the technology involved. The file is about 6 meg.

The new catalogue is available now direct from Pana.
The new TV's appear to use the 100Hz as in the PL30 but there the similarity ends. They use an uprated version of the Quintrix tube and more importantly a technology called ACUITY which includes improved motion compensation, diagonal smoothing, DSC, horizontal pixels (2200), PAL horizontal line 833, 3D comb filter and artificial intelligence. It uses 10bit processing with a 60MHz sampling rate.

I really don't know what all that means !!!!!!
We will just have to wait and see.

I must admit I too thought the TV didn't initially leap out at me with its looks but actually its grown on me and I think it looks pretty smart and with its two tone looks a welcome change from the usual silver finish all over.
