THD means Transient Harmonic Distortion, it sounds nasty so ten per cent of it will be unpleasant. One per cent is more tolerable but you'll still turn it down to lower levels to achieve optimum performance.
On paper this system looks like it will play really loud, in practice, the inefficient small drive unit speakers supplied will soak up a lot of power without turning it to sound. Don't expect it to be THAT loud. Having said that the output is higher than most all-in-ones and the sound quality may be quite decent.
Separates could be assembled for the same money with better performance but may not suit your other requirements.
they probably can be beaten or out performed but for 400 quid dvd player amp and speaker package sounds prety good to me there is nothing else for that sort of price that comes close (if there is let me now) the pioneer dvs990 is about 400 wats of music for the same price of the panasonic wich is 700 guess ile have to wait till its available to find out if its anything like its predecesor scht900 then it should be ok
