But will they take 1080p/50/60?

If they do, who wants to buy a 50PHD8 cheap?! :)

The 65" 1080p Panasonic shipping in Japan from November 1st does NOT support 1080p60. However, the 65" prototype shown at the IFA got its signal via 1080p60 HDMI. So here is hope that both the 65" and 50" 1080p plasmas released in Europe mid 2006 will support at least 1080p60. Not sure about 1080p50, but chances are not too bad, as far as I've heard...

I'd need to build an extension to get a 65" screen in my living room... :D

Given about 2 weeks ago we thought that 1080p screens in <50" were years away. I would think that there's a good chance of them getting a 43" for out the World Cup.

1080p seems to be the 'Holy Grail' which will be the best of both worlds for movies and sports. Given the new DVD technology around the corner, maybe I wont be ordering that 436-XDE afterall. If I have waited this long and there is no HD content till early next year - I guess I can justify waiting till next year.

Just read in German's "AudioVision" magazine that Pioneer is planning a 43" 1080p plasma in the first half of 2006!

Furthermore Pioneer may later go non-square pixels again. They plan to use 2160 lines, but NOT with 4k pixels in each.
