Panasonic have just released some details of the new TH42PW6B.
    106cmV increased contrast ratio(4000:1), shades of gradation(1536).
comes complete with the TY42TM6T terminal board which has a scart connection!
the most interesting thing is the fact that it has one fixed terminal for pc connection, plus three terminal board slots!!
one drawback as with old model is if you use the tuner terminal board it over rides the two other slots:mad:
retail should be around £3779.00 for the panel including the above board

and they've dropped the 5-series price... it'll be interesting to see what other retailers do, and whether the difference in spec is worth the difference in price...

    Cheers,
    Liam

    Hi kyle,

Do you have any info about the optional terminal boards that will be on offer?

Is a DVI-HDCP board on the cards?

I assume a Component board is? ...... How many inputs? ..... more than one?

Whats included on the standard board? ..... SCART + ?

PS: Give my regards to Sarah Connor when you next see her!

    Best Regards,
    KBDVD.

Any idea if this new terminal board will be available for the 5 series too? The tuner is crap so I could do with a terminal board with component and scart really, Sky+ through S-video isn't that hot :(

    Hi Kyle,

    Thanks for that.

    Excuse me for one moment...............

    WHAT!... NO DVI-HDCP? ...... I DON'T BELIEVE IT!

I really hope that this isn't the case, as I know one or two people, myself included, who will not be buying one of Panasonic's 6 series panels if this option isn't available.

    Best Regards,
    KBDVD.

Calm down, Keith ! (in a Michael Winner-type voice  )

That was only the 42" model which only does 480p anyway, so *maybe* they will bring a DVI-HDCP or HDMI board out when the 50 incher appears? If they don't I guess your dosh will be going Fujitsu's way!

    Hi Steve,

Yep...... got a bit worked up just now!

I like the Michael Winner bit...... made me laugh!

I guess my "I DON'T BELIEVE IT" was in my best Victor Meldrew voice too! :rotfl:

Your sure right though, if Panny let me (everyone) down over this again this time around, they sure won't be getting any more of my money!.......... even if I have already got the stand to put it on! ;)

Nice talking to you again mate!

    Best Regards,
    Keith.

    Hello all

Please keep in mind I've got to stay within the forums rules and it is late on a Saturday night but thought I'd try and let Keith sleep easier tonight.

As per previous post I've still to see the new 6 Series displays (8 July - not 6 July).

It looks to me as if Panasonic have changed tactics slightly with the new models as the initial info we had was that there would not be Silver units and instead the Consumer models would all be the Integrated TV units - it looks like these are not going to be here until Oct 03 so maybe an interim move to offer the TH-42PW6B.

I received my new price list tonight (even the Panasonic boys are working on a Saturday) and it shows the TH-42PWD6BX from 01 July 03 - not sure if that means they are available for immediate delivery though.

The input boards on offer are as follows:

    Twin slot -
    TY-42TM6YB - BNC Terminal board (Composite, S-Video and RGB/YUV)

    Single slot -
    TY-42TM6AB - Component Terminal Board (3xBNC)
    TY-42TM6BB - Composite/S-Video (BNC)
    TY-42TM6DB - DVI (DVI-D - and I'm told its HDCP)
    TY-42TM6GB - RGB Active through (15 pin)
TY-42TM6HB - Tuner Terminal board (for use with TU-PTA600B)
    TY-42TM6PB - PC (15 Pin)*
    TY-42TM6TB - SCART RGB

*The Display already has one VGA input built in.

The new boards are not backwards compatible with 3,4 or 5 series Displays and no news so far on a new 42HD or 50HD unit.

It looks like a 6 Series 42SD Display will be no more expensive than a 5 Series 42SD unit.

    Best regards

    Joe

    Thanks Joe!

It looks like I can calm down a little now.

I await your feedback on the launch event with great interest.

    Best Regards,

    Keith.

Regarding the release date, a friend of mine at panasonic told me that, although most of the staff do not know spec yet, to be advised imminently panasonic are looking to release both units for general sale before end of July!!!!!!

I would be interested if anyone has any other news or gossip.

Joe......your release date info was that supplied by Panasonic (ie. oct 03 for integrated tuner)??????

    Hello Daniel

A good friend has a Panasonic Consumer dealership and they were surprised when the latest news letter landed last week - they asked about the Integrated units they were expecting and were told they are not due until Oct03 (maybe Kyle can chip in here!).

    Best regards

    Joe
