    Dear All,

Having read a number of excellent posts I would welcome confirmation that I am about to set my system up right.

    I have a Hitachi plasma 42pd3000 which has 3 scart inputs ( 2 & 3 being RGB) & component inputs.

    Setup
SkY+ to plasma AV2 via scart using RGB
Sky+ optical out to Sony Dav 550
Sony Dav 550 to plasma Component
Sky + VCR out to E50 AV2 scart
E50 AV1 to plasma AV3 via scart using RGB

I am using the Sony Dvd for all my films. The Pana is to be used for backing up stuff I want to keep after being recorded on Sky+

Is this the right way for best picture quality?

    Have I missed anything?

Do I need to do anything clever in the Sky+ set up or the Pana setup?

    Thanks for any help

    Abbi

This will mean that you are recording in Composite video and not RGB - not good.

    You need to do this;

    Sky+ TV out to E50 AV2
    E50 AV1 to TV AV3

Set the E50 AV1 to RGB, AV2 input to RGB and AV2 connection to Normal.

Sky+ will pass through the E50 in RGB and will record in RGB. Your only problem will arise if you record the terrestial channels and wish to watch Sky at the same time. If this is the case you will need to connect the Sky+ VCR out to your TV but it will only be composite video. If you have any S-Video inputs on your TV you could use the S-Video out from the Sky+ box to the TV - Sky+ will output both RGB and S-Video at the same time.

    Thanks for that.

From what you are saying I am guessing that the video out scart on the sky+ box is not RGB. Hence the reason for using a pass through.

As regards terrestial Tv I have do not have a normal ariel just the sky dish so no problems there.

Just 1 question I guess I can connect the E50 AV1 to either Av2 or Av3 on the plasma?

    Thanks again
