Asus has confirmed that we are to receive the second generation Nexus 7 a little ahead of schedule so instead of a Mid-September release, we can now get our hands on it from 28th August.

The new has a higher resolution display than the original, packing in a 1920 x 1200 pixel array, delivering a 323 ppi rating, and has added SlimPort USB to HDMI compatibility, a rear-facing 5MP camera and the new design is 2mm thinner and and almost 6mm narrower than before.

Under the hood, the New Nexus 7 is powered along by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro with Adreno 320 graphics and packs 2GB of RAM. You can hook up to your home network via WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n standards and it comes compatible with the latest (low powered) version of Bluetooth, Version 4.0. The new Nexus 7 also supports Qi wireless charging.

The Nexus 7 2 is expected to cost £199.99 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only version and £239.99 for the 32GB Wi-Fi only model.
