Anyone heard much about the new MA Silver RS Series? I am very curious about the sonic differences brought about by the chanage.

    Grrrrrrrrr thats pretty annoying.
    Just bought some MA S6s.
However they are beautiful and they rock!
Maybe I'll be able to pick up some S10s dead cheap once the RS series are out!

Make a great HT setup methinks
    :D

I prefer the looks of the current S series to this new flashy RS series...

Scotty_boy, they certainly don't look like the golds on closer inspection. The finish is more like the radius speakers, whereas the old silvers and the golds had a real wood veneer.
They sounded as good as the current range, though without doing a back to back I couldn't say that they were any better.

Hmmm, i'm not sure if I like the look of them compared to the other silvers.

I think design wise they look similar to the golds, and for the price they are, I think i'd be tempted to actually go for the Golds instead of these.

Why did they bring new ones out though?

No i think Gold Series are too expensive for what they offer. If you have that much money youd better do with Dynaudio audience.

Ill sure wait for reviews, to make sure that RS really sound better than S.It could be just marketing.Well tweeters are the same and driver is the same size...

The new sub looks cool as well but too expensive. There are brands (HSU,SVS,Infinity) that have much better price/performance than MA.

    no fair.

However on the subject of the new RS series.. I must say I'm not impressed that they have decided to ditch the real wood veneer, whilst keeping the price the same. Is it really now a vinyl?? how much more profit must they be making on each unit dropping the veneer  I know its the sound thats most important, but looks count for something and I love the S series looks.

Definitly gonna see if i can pick up a pair of S1s and and centre or something when the shops start getting rid of stock.

If you look at the Sevenoaks website under special offers I think you'll find the clearance has already started - you can pick up S8's for around £500.

I think I will stick with my S6's - does anyone know if the the gold series is to be replaced - they would be good cheap!

    Hmmmm verrrry interesting!

However, I only have a stereo amp and I'm not sure whether you are even able to connect 2 sets of speakers to it and run them simultaneously (even though it says you can in the manual)... Also the MA silvers have an input impedance of 6ohms, so two pairs into one amp would give me a 3ohm input impedance which means the speakers would probably draw too much current and my amp would engage its overload protection circuit :(

Would be nice to have some for a future HT upgrade though. So if you guys reckon I can use them I might think about it.. To be fair, my amp doesn't even get warm running the S6s...

    ~sigh~
    I just don't know..

I've been toying with the new RS series for a few weeks now.

Basically the only differences from the Silver Series.

Better cabinets - the are more braced, the setup are the same as the Gold Ref series (front ported at the bottom for the floorstanders, rear ported at the top, two cavities etc), this solves the problem the Silver floorstanders had with bass; the bass also sounds more agile. They are also finished the same as the Radius.

A ever so slightly better xover. It's a slightly more detailed sound.

    Looks different.

    Has some funkey feet!

They have a sub to go with the RS series.

The equiv to the S2 and S10's have gone.

Apart from that, not much different. The mids and treble sound very similar.

They will be replaced next year. Hopefully they will be shown to the general public in October, with other surprises.

Very impressive stuff. Finish is exellent as usual and the veneer is better than the old s series. Performance has been improved considerably and the only price change is the RS1 costing £50 more!

Our dealer said there wont be anything soon.No price drop, no new series soon. :(
Well it is true the new series is not yet on MAs website...

So its said the crossover is better. What does that mean exactly?Tweeters going lower?
